Who knew? The universe works in mysterious ways, we all know that . . .
This summer, Steve and I created a little Shakespeare Alive AidsWalk(NY) Team — consisting of just us. We’ve walked the walk since the ’80’s in honor of so many of our friends began dancing with the angels. Our support has taken different turns along the way . . . I stayed home with the “babies” for a couple of those early years; later taking our daughters to walk the challenging walk all through Central Park, over to Riverside Drive and back downtown with “gay” entertainment along the way. As our daughters went their own way, we embraced organizations, like The Rehearsal Club and walked under their banner!
Years pass and TRC incorporates under a new logo and we take over getting our book, “Cinderellas Of West 53rd Street: Stories from the Legendary Rehearsal Club,” published in 2023! That year, we walked under the Cinderella AidsWalk Team. More time passes, Shakespeare Alive, our zoom reading series takes on momentum and we walked under the Shakespeare Alive banner this year, 2025. Note: Steve and I are now older. We’re no longer “walking the walk.” But we still are raising funds for them. We show up every year and participate with whatever is going on — while the walkers are walking.
This year, we fell into a new stand: CBS Pop-Up News
A lovely young lady wanted us to share “whatever might be newsworthy that going on in our neighborhood.” Well . . . alrighty then!
I said NOTHING about my history with CBS. I merely talked about The Rehearsal Club and their moving into a Harlem Brownstone; the Cinderella Book and Audiobook; and the “new” Metro Movie Theater that’s FINALLY been bought and will be converted into a NEW HOT SPOT for Indie Film Festivals. A few weeks later, I get an email from Dave Carlin who thanks me for filling out their Pop-Up form and feels “the book is a good place to start.” O M G.
I figured a little phone conversation. Turns out to be a walk down memory lane into CBS studios and a HUGE, BREAKING NEWS profile on The Rehearsal Club!!
Yes. The world works in mysterious ways. Now if some agent or casting director would call me direct to do a small turn on The Gilded Age . . . gotta keep dreaming, right? If Yellowstone were still filming, I wouldn’t mind getting on the back of a horse either!! Then, of course, would LOVE being on the inside track if anyone out there is developing a series around TRC. Our book is “source material” and the only way our women just might make some $$ from their stories.

Tomorrow is another day and this weekend, we’re celebrating America’s 4th of July — Let Freedom Ring! Time will tell with the turmoil taking place in the leadership of our country. “We the People,” still have a voice. Time is a wonderful leveler for truth prevailing. To be continued . . .
