2020 Vision

Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

OK, so I tried that . . . bit the bullet and took the steps to apply to Julliard for my Masters Degree. Yeah, I know . . . at this age? In Acting?? Really?

What an awesome learning/growing experience to just apply! It’s not like applying to an academic college. All those A’s in my transcripts from my BA hold little value. The “recommendations,” the essay, the prepared monologues! Now, if I was on the other side of that table, I’d be impressed with:
(1) the grey-haired gal even showing up to the challenge; and,
(2) nailing her chosen monologues (thank you, Page Clements at T. Schreiber Studios)!
Which led to a request for a third (call-back! Yeah!). Then, like the try-out in the women’s baseball film, League of Their Own, 150 wanna-be actors lined up to see if their name made the cut. Mine did not.

Darn. I was soooo hoping to be accepted and then DECLINE! Who really wants to go back for another 4 years of training? I should be growing ON THE JOB! Well. Thank God for the challenges from The Rehearsal Club’s growing into an incorporated not-for-profit. Producing. Writing. Filmography. Social Media Rock Star. Now if primetime would just open its door for me like daytime did, we just might be able to keep our house. However, reality bites the big one and it looks like our little bungalow is going on the market in February. Anyone seeking a lovely little house in the woods of Ridgefield, CT? Great school district. Completely renovated little 3-bedroom ranch with mother-in-law quarters downstairs. Contact: Paul Lutz – Coldwell Banker – 111 Great Hill Road (the pic is our front yard).

Meanwhile, watch for Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour preaching the gospel of health and wellness going on now all over the country. She’s sharing the stage with Lady Gaga, Michele Obama and others you’ll recognize, but these are two of my personal favs. I do not see NYC on their list, but I’m pretty sure they’ll play Madison Square Garden at some point. I mean, if I was their producer, I’d make NYC the Grand Finale, wouldn’t you?

So back to all our little ponds seeking to produce something of worth using the gifts God has given us. Star power has a different ring to me these days. I look to women like Oprah and Michele Obama and the stars who stepped up to shine a light on what has become the #MeToo Movement. Was I a victim and didn’t even know it? I’m a married mother of two amazing, grown-up, kick-ass women. I’m like Popeye: “I am who I am who I am.” I keep hearing the refrain in A Chorus Line: “use me . . . choose me. God, I’m a [dancer] actor. A dancer — dances.”

May you ALLL dance in the light — wherever it’s shining.
