Year of the Tiger!

I was told years and years ago, I had a tiger “watching over me.” And for whatever reason, I feel like this is finally MY year ahead. My mother is gone; our children are outta the house, our “roommate” is outta the house; our HOUSE is SOLD! OMG! What F R E E D O M!

My last blog talked about “Coming Back, Baby” – speaking on behalf of the country who had elected Biden President. Well. Well, well, well. Rumblings of those “staunch Republicans” actually planning to bring Drumpft back???

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

For my own sanity, I choose to concentrate on what I can nurture and control of my own creation. My marriage of 40+ years, my amazing children who feed the world with beauty and joy every day, the women of The Rehearsal Club now “re-birthing” our former existence, incorporating and building TRC’s Residency Program at The Webster. Huge. In my world? The amazingly talented actors who have found our History Alive! company, are now growing with our Shakespeare Alive! wing for History Alive! The seed of an idea dropped August, 2020 into the pool of creativity I’d been doing for The Rehearsal Club since 2006, was not in keeping with their current mission. Soooo, my idea has now blossomed into showcasing multiple talents for our own not-for-profit company, History Alive! allowing men and women alike to take up the baton to test their metal against the bard’s poetry.

Even me a former dancer? Yeah, I can talk, too! A soap opera “pretty face?” Well, I still choose the “pretty roles” (see link below pic — “Bianca” in Othello below). Hope you enjoy! I sure did!

Reading Othello started our year off with a bang! Moving into Much Ado and probably Winter’s Tale next. To see what we’ve been up to for the last two years with all this, visit our History Alive site: www.historyaliveny.com. Under the Shakespeare Alive! tab, you’ll find excerpts of other great performances together with Brush Up Your Shakespeare videos that tell all the tales (I’m kinda behind on all that, but getting there!). We “gender-bend” quite a bit with fabulously talented women who probably will never get cast (like me — however — I should never say “never”). Hope springs eternal and for our History Alive company? Forever Grateful!

Meanwhile, I am still working for myself. The agent partnership thing has proven elusive. But then my history with agents speaking for me didn’t pan out so well, so now I’m thinking I should just use my husband as my “Manager?” Probably the ONLY person I completely trust these days. And he “hates Drumpft!” Trust him. Jewish roots dig quite the deepest hole. #Spielberg understands (#Shindler’sList; #WestSideStory). Take care we, the people. Our future is in our hands.
